Farina & Kitty met about 25 years ago. It was their passion for good food that helped develop the long standing friendship they enjoy today.
Farina Woodcock
Having been born in Pakistan, Farina was first and foremost exposed to Indian cuisine, prepared by family chefs. She comes from a background of home chefs who she used to love watching create meals for very large dinner parties that her parents hosted. She learned to recognise spices by smell and of course thrilled at the exciting array of colours and variety available.
As she got older, she travelled extensively with her family to many exotic Asian and Middle Eastern countries and was constantly exposed to many types of cuisine. She took an immediate real interest in talking to friends and family about what went into creating the delicious meals that were enjoyed. She spoke to Home cooks and picked up family recipes. Since then, Farina has developed her own individual style and created her own recipes which she has prepared for family and friends and for Sugar and Spice 15.
She was told recently that her aunt, now deceased, gave cooking classes of her own home-made recipes. These were recently discovered. Farina & Kitty are hoping to include these in the recipe book they are writing.
Kitty Vongprasert
Born in Thailand, Chef Kitty has more than 20 years’ experience in the culinary arts of Thailand, culminating in her being named 'UKs Top Thai Chef 2012'. Having graduated from the 'National Bakery School', at London's South Bank University, with '1st Class Honours,' Kitty spent time teaching her skills to other passionate chefs. However, with Thai cooking & unique family recipes descending from the generations before her, it was only a matter of time before Kitty was due to share her family's delicious food with the world.
Three years ago, Kitty decided to move back to Surrey and join forces with Farina to start Sugar and Spice 15. It has grown from strength to strength. Starting with catering events for Universities such as The London University at Elephant and Castle, office functions, Christmas Parties, Weddings, private dinners and most recently introducing Thai and Indian cooking classes in their kitchen or at homes of their clients.
Kitty’s expertise comes from working with different Thai chefs but most importantly first hand training from generations of family members with recipes developed along the way by them, and in recent years, by Kitty herself.

“The feedback was extremely positive! Second servings were had by literally everybody. A colleague saved me some so I managed to taste it the following day, although cold, the flavours were still evident and it I personally really enjoyed it. Some who are not used to spicy foods or “Must be in the mood for Indian food…” found it to be spicy but very moreish and they liked the presentation of food.”
